Diane von Furstenberg
"The most important relationship in your life is the relationship you have with yourself. Because no matter what happens, you will always be with yourself."
Diane von Furstenberg, formerly Princess Diane von Furstenberg of Germany, is known for the creation of the iconic wrap dress. She married into the German House of Furstenberg, but divorced Prince Egan of Furstenberg in 1972 and lost her title as Princess. Diane started her career with a $30,000 investment in the 1970's to design women's clothes. The company today is a favorite of many women, not just for the wrap dress, but for the bright colors, prints and resort wear (I can't get enough of DvF!). Incredibly, from 1972 to 1976, 5 million wrap dresses were sold. In the 1980s, Diane retreated from the Fashion Industry near bankruptcy, but re-emerged in 1997 stronger than ever.
Diane was the muse and inspiration of many artists in the day such as Andy Warhol, Helmut Newton, and Julian Opie.
